Hello all you trail riders.

We are coming close to the end of out trail riding season, & it is time to get your hour sheets in.
They are due October 1st. Also I will need at least 3-5 photos of you trail riding, please try to make them all different rides.
You can email, mail or fax me your log sheets also.

It would be a big help if you could mail or drop off your photos to me.
Email makes it more difficult for me, since then I have to send the email photos off to get printed, then it cost me money to do that.

So please mail or drop off at my store. My mailing address is:
Sharlene Rayl
 2028 market st
ferndale ca. 95536

We are having our HBHC awards banquet on  October 23rd, so please book that date. We have awards for everyone who signed up & logged hours.
I have great prizes for our winners this year. So make sure you all attend.

We are also going to play minute to win it games, & have gift exchange. I will explain that to you all when time gets closer if you have never been to our banquets .
Watch for the Banquet flyer coming soon.
See you all next month

Hello!  I'd like to give you an update to the Redwood Acres Fair Horse Show.  I am the secretary, and for years I've fought for you to be able to enter the day of the show.  While we all LOVE pre-entries, we all know that sometimes the entry due date comes and we are on the fence about our horse.  PLEASE....feel free to pre-enter.  It will make the morning go by much quicker.  BUT...the new Fair Manager and I agree....why limit our entries to what is sent in.  If someone really, really wants to show at the Fair, why not allow them to enter that day.....just like a normal horse show.

The due date for pre-entries is June 4th.  If you haven't already done so, please, if you know you are showing, go ahead and pre-enter for the Fair.  There will be no problem adding or deleting classes that day...but please, keep the changes to a minimum.  I have no problem doing paperwork, but let's all work together to keep it managable!
Looking forward to seeing all of you and hopefully, some new faces this year!

Redwood Acres Fair Horse Show
The Redwood Acres Fair show will be double judged this year, which requires two entry forms.   One judge is being hired by Redwood Acres and the other by HBHC.  We still have no final word on a show in Crescent City.

The entry for Redwood Acres, under judge Denny Hansen is due June 4th and they do not accept late entries.  The rest of the fair entries are due May 28th.  If you are unsure, fill out the entry and enter one class and pay the drug fee.  For a $10 late fee you can add classes.

The entry for HBHC is due June 10th and I will go by the fair office to check all of their pre-entries.  The June 10th date gets you the day fee.  It would be great if everyone can enter, so we can make sure the entries are coordinated.

Your entries need to match, you must enter under both judges.  Just think, one bath, one haul in and two sets of placings.

Redwood Acres will be giving awards for high point based on their system and requirements.  HBHC will be giving awards tickets and will have the prize table set up.

*******special awards to the high point 4-H, FFA or Grange rider in the walk trot open, novice youth and youth divsions*****  sponsored by Pete's Custom Fencing, HBHC and one more sponsor for $35 is needed.

Entries are online at Redwood Acres website.  The HBHC entry is on the forms page.  Fair books are available at local tack, feed and vet offices.

Is how it will work is you will start off in the arena doing a few exercises with your horse or mule to get some pointers of what we will do at each obstacle. Then we will hit the trail.

This is a great clinic for those of you who have never done a trail trial & would like to learn to get an idea of how they work. & what judges look for, how they score, & great pointers for a better score at an obstacle.

We really encourage you beginners to come also!!!! We hope to have a future Non-  Sanctioned Trail Trail in our  our local area for riders  to come & have fun.

ATTN:  The next HBHC Meeting has a change of venue due to the fact that a large party from a bus group is expected at Kristina's on the night of our next meeting.  The next HBHC Meeting will be Monday, March 29 at The Pantry in Eureka at 7pm in their banquet room to the left as you approach the cash register.  They require that most people in attendance purchase something from the menu as they are letting us use the room for free and want to make it worth their trouble.

Attached are the minutes from the February meeting.  Hope to see you in March!!

02/25/10

ThThere will not be a Nancy Renfro clinic on Feb. 27 and 28.  HBHC is continuing to try to schedule a clinic for this spring and more information will follow.
